These two teams have never met in the Finals.  Each team won the last time they played for the Stanley Cup. This was Tampa Bay Lightning's second trip to the Stanley Cup Finals.  The Chicago Blackhawks made their thirteenth appearance in the Stanley Cup Finals.

It took six games for the Blackhawks to beat the Lightning and bring Chicago their 3rd Stanley Cup in just 6 years. Duncan Keith received the Conn Smythe Trophy, hockey's MVP trophy. The final game, game 6, ended in a 2-0 shutout.
