The Arizona Coyotes have a total of seven retired hockey jersey numbers. Three of those were players who had played with the team when it was the Winnipeg Jets, and one was for a player who never skated for the team but was involved in a much different way. The Winnipeg Jets players honored with their numbers retired by the Coyotes include Bobby Hull (#9) who played from 1972-1980, Dale Hawerchuk (#10) who played from 1981-1990 and Thomas Steen (#25) who played from 1981-1995.
Phoenix Coyotes player jersey retirements went to Keith Tkachuk (#7, 1992-2001), Teppo Numminen (#27, 1988-2003) and Jeremy Roenick (#97 1996-2001, 2006-2007). Wayne Gretzky’s #99 was retired as part of a league-wide retirement of his number, but Gretzky spent time as a minority owner of the Phoenix Coyotes as well as Head Coach before the name change to the Arizona Coyotes. Retired jersey numbers are important to hockey souvenir collectors. If you have one of these, keep it protected in our Arizona Coyotes Jersey Display Case.
