Detroit Red Wings Goalie Mini Hockey Helmet Showcase
How To Clean Your Display Case
National Hockey League
The Detroit Red Wings have had a total of 86 different goalies play between the pipes over the years. One that older fans will remember was Glenn Hall. He wore jersey #1 and played with the team from 1952 to 1955 and from 1956 to 1957. He was what you would call an ‘old school’ goaltender in that he never wore a mask or a helmet. In fact, in the years he played for the Detroit Red Wings, there was no such thing as a goalie mask that was being mass produced to be used for hockey goaltenders. Besides, these guys were tough.
They weren’t going to submit to showing any kind of weakness to their opponents and goalie masks were viewed by many of the goalies on ice at the time as something the weaker players wore. Some said it hampered their vision but what they really meant was that they just didn’t want to look foolish with a face covering of any kind. Nowadays, they are required pieces of equipment at all hockey levels. Mini helmets have become huge collectibles. If you have one you’ll want to keep it safe in our Detroit Red Wings Horizontal View Mini Hockey Helmet Display.
