When you talk about NHL goalies you have to include Grant Fuhr. The Edmonton Oilers goalie played for the team from 1981 to 1991 and was on each of the team’s five Stanley Cup winning teams. Fuhr has a number of awards and records from his years in the NHL. He is also one of only a handful of black (bi-racial) NHL hockey players to have a Stanley Cup ring. In fact, he has five of them! On top of that, Fuhr is in the record books as being the first black player to win a Stanley Cup as well as the first one to be inducted into the NHL Hockey Hall of Fame. Grant Fuhr was born in Alberta and was drafted to the Edmonton Oilers, the closest NHL team to his hometown, in 1981. The Alberta native lived just a few minutes away from Edmonton as it turned out. Fuhr’s contributions to the league, the Oilers and the City of Edmonton would fill a book. Mini helmets are hot collectors’ items and if you have one of Grant Fuhr’s keep it protected in our Edmonton Oilers Horizontal View Mini Hockey Helmet Display.
