Wendell Young played the first ever Tampa Bay Lightning game in goal but it wasn’t his first NHL game. Young’s career spanned a total of twenty-one years and included stints in the IHL (International Hockey League), AHL (American Hockey League) and NHL. He started his hockey career in 1980-1981 playing for the Kitchener Rangers of the Ontario Hockey League. His first stop in the NHL was 1985-1986 where he spent most of two seasons with the Vancouver Canucks. One season with the Philadelphia Flyers led to four more with the Pittsburgh Penguins and then the Tampa Bay Lightning. Young went back to Pittsburgh after two seasons and ended his career with the Chicago Wolves of the IHL where he also spent four seasons as Assistant Coach. Goalie souvenirs are unique including mini helmets. If you have one keep it dust free in our Tampa Bay Lightning Horizontal View Mini Hockey Helmet Display.
