The Tampa Bay Lightning chose their name in honor of the fact that Tampa is known as the Lightning Capital of North America. The team logo was an obvious choice of a lightning bolt, and the team is nicknamed The Bolts.

The team colors are a stormy combination of blue, white and black. The team holds a spot in professional hockey history as being the first ever National Hockey League team to have a woman play on the ice. That distinction goes to female goalie Manon Rheaume who played two pre-season games in 1992.

The team jersey has remained mostly unchanged over the seasons with slight updates with the exception of a strange ‘optical illusion’ jersey worn from 1996 to 1999 that was eventually replaced. An alternate third jersey also was added to the wardrobe.

Jersey collectors look to these facts when they add to their collection. If you have a autographed jersey, you’ll want to keep it in our Tampa Bay Lightning Jersey Display Case.
