The Washington Capitals have a total of five retired jersey numbers including the league-wide retirement of #99 to honor Wayne Gretzky. Rod Langway wore #5 and was known as the Secretary of Defense in his eleven seasons with the team. He was part of one of the biggest trades in franchise history when he joined the Caps from Montreal.

Yvon Labre wore #7 and was a member of the inaugural 1974-1975 team. He scored the teams first ever goal at the Capital Center on October 15, 1974, in a game against the Los Angeles Kings. Mike Gartner wore #11, and when he left the team after ten seasons, he was the all-time team leader in games played, goals, assists, points, power-play goals and game-winning goals.

Dale Hunter wore #32 and had been called the Heart and Soul of the Washington Capitals. He played a total of 1,407 regular season and 186 playoff games in his NHL career. If you have a autographed jersey, you’ll want to store it in our Washington Capitals Jersey Display Case.
